As they watched the faculty partake of scrumptious
Thanksgiving delicacies, envy filled the eyes of Grace's secondary
students. But who could blame them? Tender turkey, oven roasted
ham, buttered golden corn, home-made rolls, green bean casserole,
brown-sugar sweet potatoes, berry cobbler, pumpkin pie.the
scents are enough to give anyone a full-fledged food fantasy.
For the third consecutive year, on November 16,
2004, Mrs. Davis and her home management class created a food
masterpiece. Miracle workers Mrs. Denise Jackson and Mrs.
Vickie Lawrie also deserve special thanks. Without their culinary
skills, this banquet would have ended disastrously.
For several hours, the home management cooking
crew toiled with the banquet preparations. They cooked tasty
treats, skinned potatoes, heated pies, decorated tables, and
lugged carts from the chapel to the cafeteria. Three tables
were filled with all the mouth-watering splendors of Thanksgiving.
One balanced the beverages--iced tea, apple cider, and water--while
the others cradled the precious cuisine. Each table was festively
adorned with Thanksgiving tablecloth, figurines, leaves, and
pumpkins, all meticulously decorated by the home management
class. The teachers loved it. Members of the home management
class could not help but grin as they observed delight in
the eyes of their cherished teachers.
Some teachers express their appreciation
and enjoyment below:
"The students did a great job. The presentations
were attractive and delicious. Hungry educators always appreciate
food."
--Mary Ellen Hood
“I walked by; it smelled awesome. I ate pork and beans,
which was only 4 points.”
--Mr. Yandian
“It was better than my grandmother’s. My favorite
thing was the sweet potato casserole.”
--Mrs. Corder
“The goal is to bless the teachers. It is also to
develop organizational skills and to learn to plan a holiday
meal for a large group. Mission accomplished!”
--Mrs. Davis
