As the crowd yells G-C-S the varsity cheer squad
takes first place at state! On Friday, November 5, the GCS
junior high and high school cheerleaders took a road trip
to Del City for a weekend of EXTREME excitement that they
will remember for a lifetime. The cheerleaders went through
intense training and practices for over two months to prepare
for OCSAA state competition. On Saturday, November 6, a morning
of great anticipation, the cheerleaders arrived at Mid Del
ready to strut their stuff.
At 10:58 the varsity cheerleaders went out to
perform their mouth-dropping performance. At the conclusion
of their performance, the crowd was left in awe. After everyone
was done performing and the judges were tallying up the scores,
the Grace cheerleaders showed the crowd and the other teams
their advanced tumbling and stunting abilities. When the judges
were finished tallying the scores, the Grace junior high and
high school received first place in their divisions and the
Varsity squad received the high point award, which is awarded
for receiving the highest point total over all, out of all
competing divisions. After the team performed there were also
individual tryouts for all-state.
The people who made all state were: Katie Elish,
Katie Clark, Becki Hardy, Kelsey Tudor, and Ashley Rhoades,
and honorable mention went to Ashlee Tauss! We also want to
voice our appreciation to our competitive coaches Brad, Halee,
and Bear from CTY! Also, thanks to all the fans and Mr. and
Mrs. Cook who came to support us! Thanks to Mrs. Clark and
Mrs. Elish for being the greatest coaches ever!!!
