Three hundred twenty-three students
visited this year's book fair, for a total of two days of
shopping and wishing. This fair has been a Grace tradition
since 1995. The book fair was originally organized to provide
quality choices for Grace students and families, which is
why only new books are offered. Both high quality inspirational
and educational books are offered. It is held in the Singles
Alliance room, and is decorated for early Christmas shopping.
Each class comes through to actually
see and handle the books. We have many parent volunteers to
assist the children in marking items on their wish lists.
The wish lists go home for parents to make the final decision
about which, if any, books to purchase. The teachers also
complete wish lists, and parents can choose to purchase items
for their child's classroom from those lists. Each year, GCS
sells over 1,000 books during the Book Fair week. From this,
the GCS libraries gain between $2,000 and $3,000 in new books
yearly. Many thanks to all the faithful parents who made this
possible this year, especially Cindy Lennon (who spearheaded
the effort), Suzanne Goodwin, and Theresa Baskin, who each
stayed throughout the entire Book Fair.
