Students generally go to the
Oklahoma State Fair to ride the Ferris wheel and to eat funnel
cake. They play expensive carnival games and occasionally
win life-sized stuffed animals. They stroll through the pavilions
and buy souvenirs. Michelle Jackson was an exception.
Michelle, a Grace senior, saw the
fair's Expo Eenter competitions as an opportunity and a challenge.
She competed in the needlepoint and photography categories,
and won. Two of the six photographs she entered received bright
red second place ribbons, and her needle and thread project
received a sapphire-blue first place ribbon. These awards
demonstrate Michelle's exceptional talent and drive. Michelle
uses Grace's ORUEF preparation times to further her creative
abilities. With the help of Mrs. Sheth (Grace's librarian
and also our needle and thread instructor) Michelle's needlepoint
received 2nd place at ORUEF last year. In years past, Michelle
has participated in the photography prep time, taking snapshots
of animals, landscape, still life, and other subject categories.
Competitive and hard-working, Michelle
plans on submitting both needlepoint and photography entries
for ORUEF this year.
