On Saturday, October ninth, the soccer team
played Mingo Valley in the state finals at TU’s field.
The field was nice and soft; a perfect setting for the state
finals. Grace came out strong as Creighton Piper scored the
first goal. Jacob Briscoe followed Creighton with a second
goal. Mingo Valley tried to come back by scoring a goal, but
the Grace defense was too strong for them.
Finally, Andrew Maris sealed the victory by scoring
the final goal in the last minute of play. Grace proved themselves
the best team throughout the whole season. Now Grace has one
more task: Tri-State. The Eagles won Tri-State last year,
beating Blue Ridge with a score of 4-3 in the finals. The
Eagles hope to make a repeat performance this year.
