The
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Tulsa Race for the
Cure is an annual run that is held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The
event consists of a five-kilometer run and a one-mile fun
run. There were about 6,500 runners and walkers at the event.
The race raises money for local and national breast cancer
organizations that specialize in prevention and awareness
of breast cancer.
Many of our cross country team members
participated in this race. The best finisher from Grace was
Israel Richardson, who
placed thirty-fourth out of 777 male runners in the five-kilometer
race. Our runners also did well in their in their respective
age groups. Jayme Goolsbay placed fourth out of one hundred
twenty-three runners in the 9-12 age group. In the female
13-15 division, Brinkley Davison and Olivia Som de Cerff placed
eighteenth and twenty-first, respectively.
Our male runners also did very well
in the five kilometer race. We had four runners place in the
top forty in the 13-15 age group: Israel Richardson-fifth,
Daniel Cap- twentieth, Daniel Maris- thirty-first, and Evan
Chasteen- thirty-fifth. Overall, our Grace cross country team
showed very well in the race and was also able to help a worthy
organization in the process.
