The Grace Varsity boy's soccer team defeated cross-town rival Wright Christian Academy with a score of 1-0 on Thursday night. The Grace Eagles started out well in the first half, and although the two teams ended the half with the score at 0-0, the Eagles dominated the majority of the period.
When the second half started, the Eagles came out strong, dominating on every front. A few minutes into the second half, a cross from sophomore Jonathan Scott was headed to the back goal-post by senior Captain Jacob Briscoe, and was finally placed in the back of the net by senior Anthony Harwell, putting the Eagles up 1-0. The Eagles had several other opportunities, but were unable to capitalize on them. Wright Christian fought hard, but the Eagle's defense held strong, earning their first shut-out of the season. The Eagle's next game will be against the Tri-State runners-up, Blue Ridge, on Friday, September 10th. Come out and support the soccer team!
