During Homecoming week, Grace held its annual
cheer clinic. Young ladies from kindergarten through sixth
grade could sign up. The divisions were: K5; first and second
grades; third and fourth grades; and fifth and sixth grades.
This year marks the ninth year of the cheer clinic.
The girls practiced Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
after school. On Friday they preformed at the pep rally for
homecoming. They were proud to wear their matching T-shirts,
which were included in their registration fee.
The ORUEF cheerleaders taught each division their
own cheer. K5 learned two cheers, a thigh stand and how to
do the splits. First and second grades learned three cheers,
a thigh stand and/or prep stunt, and a hurdle jump. Third
and fourth grades learned two cheers and preps. The fifth
and sixth grades learned a dance and one cheer, and how to
improve their stunts. They always stretched before each practice--everything
they learned, they learned how to do safely. All the girls
felt like pro cheerleaders and they enjoyed the cheer clinic
very much.
The ORUEF cheerleaders that helped were: Alisha
Allen, Ashley Rhoads, Lauren Dowdy, Katie Clark, Becki Hardy,
Alli Harwell, Kayla Alston, Lauren Hall, Clair Tierrnan, Katie
Elish, Tamara Clayton, Rachel Dionne, Ashlee Tauss, Gabbi
Stuehm, Jordan Gustin, Hanna Duinnick, Sarah Cason, Katie
Meyer, Jessica Davis, Lizzie Hutto, Lauren Rivers, Deborah
Stearman, MacKenzie Teague, Stephanie Clark, and Kelsey Tudor.
All of them are in the eighth through the twelfth grades.
They helped tremendously by keeping the girls in line and
doing their cheer.
Mrs. Dedi Clark helped to put this all together
and sponsor this fun event. Her hard work of organizing the
clinic paid off when proud parents, attending the afternoon
pep assembly, watched their daughters perform in front of
the entire school.
